Information on users
During the course of any visit to the National Army Museum website, the pages which you see, along with something called a 'cookie', are downloaded to your computer (see below for more information on cookies). Most, if not all, websites do this, and that is because 'cookies' allow the website to do useful things like finding out whether the computer (and probably you, its user) has visited the website before and re-using any preferences set from previous visits. Any information that is supplied by 'cookies' can help the National Army Museum to provide you with a better service, and assists the National Army Museum in analysing the profile of you, our visitor.
A 'cookie' is a small text file stored on your computer. The one set by the National Army Museum website can only be read by the National Army Museum website and will not expose you to any security risks. 'Cookies' in themselves do not identify the individual user, just the computer used, so this is perfectly safe and does not affect the performance of your computer in any way. It does mean that if you are using the same computer the National Army Museum can potentially recognise you when you revisit to the National Army Museum website.

When you supply any personal information to the National Army Museum, the Museum incurs legal obligations towards you in the way it handles that data. The National Army Museum has to collect the information fairly, and to let you know how it is to be used and whether it will be passing information on to anyone else. The National Army Museum will hold your personal information on its systems for as long as you use the service you have requested, and remove it in the event that the purpose has been met.
