Tradition of London 54mm collectable figure. Painted white metal.

The Duke of Wellington dismounted at the Battle of Waterloo, 1815.

Born on 1 May 1769, Arthur Wellesley went on to rise through the ranks of the British Army, cutting his teeth in the campaigns in the Netherlands, India, and most famously in the Peninsular War, the campaign in Spain and Portugal against Napoleonic France. He was granted his dukedom in 1814, following Napoleon's exile to the island of Elba.

While the Battle of Waterloo in 1815 remains Wellington's most famous victory, he himself believed that his victory at Assaye in Western India, in the Second Anglo-Maratha War, on 23 September 1803 was the best battle he ever fought.

After his military victories he turned to domestic politics, becoming Prime Minister of Great Britain twice, and remained Commander-in-Chief of the British Army until his death on 14 September 1852.
